At Running Warehouse, being involved in our community is important to us. Not only because this is where we live, and these people are our friends and our family, but because we also want to make a difference, and making a difference starts here at home. The annual Turkey Trot put on to benefit the SLO County Food Bank is a wonderful way to have a fun run with the community we love, and also a way to raise money for a cause that desperately needs it. On a holiday in which food is front and center, what better way to celebrate than to help raise money for food for those who are in need?
For the second year in a row, Running Warehouse partnered with the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank to put on a Turkey Trot in Avila Beach. The Trot consisted of a 2 mile walk or a 5 mile run along the Bob Jones Trail. This year, we raised $3,000 from the local trotters’ donations and an additional $9,000 in sponsorships. A total of $12,000 for a second year event to raise money for our local community is a huge contribution, and we are very proud to have helped put on such a successful event! Thank you to all who volunteered their time on Thanksgiving morning and also to everyone involved in helping to raise money for our local Food Bank.
