The revolutionary Transcend debuted in February 2014 and while going through two iterations, the shoe has yet to find a home with many runners. Forgoing a traditional post to reduce excess pronation, the Transcend used guide rails (foot cradle) and geometry (straighter shape and an 8mm heel-toe offset) to provide guidance for feet in need of improved motion. While the concept works, the shoe has yet to resonate with runners seeking a premium support shoe.
With the Transcend 3 comes major changes, while the concept remains the same. The base of the shoe has been narrowed a touch and overlays in the upper have been removed or realigned. Both of these changes promise to deliver a more universal fit to satisfy a great range of foot shapes.
The guide rails have been softened from version 1 to 2 and again from 2 to 3. Additionally, the guide rails are now molded with the midsole (instead of being glued in place), which helps to make the shoe lighter and more flexible. Both changes to the guide rails should deliver more perceived comfort underfoot.
Stack height: 29mm heel, 21mm forefoot, 8mm heel-toe offset
