Magdalena Lewy-Boulet is a rockstar. Okay, maybe not a rockstar in the literal sense of the word (who knows, I’ve never personally heard her shred on the guitar), but in the running world, she certainly has made a name for herself. Born in Poland in 1973, Magda became a U.S. citizen in 2001, and now resides in Oakland, CA. If you’re not familiar with Magda’s accomplishments, we’ll break it down for you.
Magda might be most well known for her career as an Olympic marathoner. At the marathon distance, she has had a handful of big victories including the San Francisco Marathon and Pittsburgh Marathon in 2002, as well as the Orange County Marathon in 2006. Her stellar marathon PR came in 2010 at the Rotterdam Marathon, where she achieved a time of 2:26:22.
Making her debut 100-mile race at Western States Endurance Run just last year in 2015, she also just so happened to win with a time of 19:05:21. I don’t have a feeling that this is a case of beginner’s luck.
Oh and one more thing… Magda was just named Ultrarunner of the Year for 2015. NBD.
GU Energy VP
VP of Innovation, Research, and Development at GU Energy Labs, Magda knows a thing or two about nutrition. And who better to be in charge of R&D at GU than someone who understands the demands of staying properly fueled for running?
HOKA ONE ONE Athlete
In her own words, “HOKA shoes allow me to train at high mileage without beating my feet up. The shoes provide me with a perfect balance of comfort and protection, which is all I need to keep me enjoying running all over the world.”
So on top of everything else Magda has going on, she also is a mother, and judging from the touching mother-son moment in the video above, there’s a lot of love there.
Whelp, there it is. We said it. Magdalena Lewy-Boulet is not only a fantastic runner, businesswoman, and mother, but she is also just a plain awesome person. How do we know this? She came and visited us at Running Warehouse last month for a meet and greet, and spoiler alert: she really is as awesome as you’d think.
Stay tuned for our video interview with Magda while she was here visiting RW. We asked her about all things running and nutrition related, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
