Back in 2013, the original adidas Energy Boost introduced the running world to adidas’ Boost midsole technology. Since then, the neutral daily trainer has gone through several iterations but has maintained the cushioned, springy ride that has pushed Boost to the forefront of midsole technology. With this new update, adidas keeps what works well and offers optimal updates to enhance the shoe’s fit and running experience.
A common complaint among runners was the rigid plastic cage on the midfoot that caused discomfort. To fix this, adidas redesigned the midfoot cage to offer a snug midfoot wrap that will also limit irritation and hot spots. Another noticeable improvement is the replacement of the TechFit upper with a softer, stretchable material. Along with providing a more secure fit, this new upper change should also expand with the foot on every foot strike.
For optimal traction, the Energy Boost is revamped with a Continental outsole design similar to the Ultra Boost. The sleeker Torsion system will also mirror the Ultra Boost and Supernova, to offer a smooth heel-to-toe transition. Midsole construction will continue to feature ample Boost material to give runners a premium cushioned experience.
