Pearl Izumi EM Road M 2 Sneak Peek

August 4th, 2013

Pearl Izumi EM Road M 2 Women's Shoe

We recently introduced you to the EM Road N 0, an upcoming racing shoe from Pearl Izumi. In early 2014 we will also see a second new offering from PI, the EM Road M 2.

If you are well versed in Pearl Izumi’s shoe-naming system, the story of the upcoming Pearl Izumi EM Road M 2 should be apparent. For those uninitiated, the EM Road M 2 will introduce a mild support, moderate cushioned option to PI’s well-executed E:Motion collection. Expect the Road M 2 to offer the same great qualities of its peers – a quick transition, smooth ride, and a socklike fit – and weights of 9.8 oz (Men’s 9.0) and 8.9 oz (Women’s 8.0) according to the PI catalog.

What to Watch For

  • Seamless Upper: A supple mesh upper features TPU film overlays for a secure fit that doesn’t rub the wrong way.
  • Midfoot Support: A high density post at midfoot provides mild to moderate support for overpronation.
  • Dynamic Offset: Pearl Izumi’s midsole geometry encourages a quick and responsive toe-off and an efficient stride.

Pearl Izumi EM Road N 0 Sneak Peek

July 30th, 2013

Pearl Izumi EM Road N 0 Men

Since its introduction, Pearl Izumi’s E:Motion collection has earned itself a fair share of glowing reviews from runners looking for a smooth ride and a great fit (watch our video to see how much we like the lineup). For 2014, PI will expand the collection with the EM Road N 0 (that’s “N-zero,” not “no”), a neutral racing shoe for those who want to go even lower and lighter than the already quick EM Road N 1.

According to PI’s measurements, the Men’s version of the N 0 is expected to weigh 6.0 oz for a size 9, while the Women’s model, taking on a different look with an upper specifically designed to accommodate a woman’s foot, is expected to come in at 5.4 oz for a size 8.

What to Watch For

  • Seamless Upper: Welded overlays provide a secure, performance fit while minimizing friction on the foot for comfort, both with and without socks.
  • Dynamic Offset: The backbone of PI’s EM collection, the Dynamic Offset midsole design ensures a quick transition through toe-off and a responsive ride.
  • Blown Rubber Outsole: While traction isn’t a strong point in other EM Road models, the N 0 will feature blown rubber on the forefoot and heel areas for optimal grip during faster running.

Pearl Izumi E:Motion Sneak Peek

August 20th, 2012

In February 2013, Pearl Izumi is introducing a brand new line of road and trail shoes called E:Motion. Their goal when developing this line was to create the world’s most fluid running experience, without the use of gels, air bags or other inserted midsole technologies.

The result was the development of the E:Motion midsole, offering a smooth transition and what the company calls a “dynamic offset” that changes as the foot goes through its stride. Better yet, all E:Motion shoes are designed to be under 10 oz (Men’s size 9) according to Pearl Izumi’s measurements.

We haven’t yet run in any of the E:Motion shoes, but we’re impressed with how light and flexible the range is. See more details below on each model we’ll carry. All weights and stack heights are Running Warehouse measurements.
