New Balance gave their premium neutral trainer some serious style in its current version, and they’re pushing the design envelope further with the 1080 v3. Beyond a fresh look for the upper and midsole, changes are few – which is fine by us, considering how smooth and responsive the current model is on the road.

What to Watch For

• Lighter Weight: According to published weights from New Balance, the 1080 v3 drops a few tenths of an ounce compared to the current model, with Men’s size 9 at 10.2 oz and Women’s size 8 at 8.0 oz.
• Premium Cushioning: The 1080 v3 continues to use N2 cushioning technology, which enables a lower offset (here, 8mm) without sacrificing a pillowy feel.
• New Crash Pad: The 1080 v3 uses ABZORB foam in the crash pad for added cushioning.
