Top 3 Sports Bras for Nursing Moms

September 6th, 2012

Velcro Straps on Juno; Back Closure on Fiona; Front J-Hook on Grace II

It can be tricky for nursing mothers to find a sports bra that delivers on all fronts. Performance on the run, comfort and easy accessibility are all key features to look for when selecting a sports bra to use while you are nursing. To support your efforts to train hard through every stage of your life, we’ve picked out a few of our favorite bras for nursing moms. Check ‘em out here:

Modesty: Moving Comfort Juno Bra

The Moving Comfort Juno Bra has a substantial liner and a nice high neckline that adds a little extra modesty for the woman who wants to move seamlessly from her run to her life-about-town. This bra offers appropriate support for a DD cup size for high impact activities. If you feel that you need more support than usual because of fuller cups, reach for the Juno and head out for your run with security. The Juno also has adjustable Velcro straps that allow you to quickly and easily unfasten one side of your bra to nurse.

Easy On-and-Off: Moving Comfort Fiona Bra

We love the simplicity of the Fiona Bra. The back closure on this bra makes it easy to slip in and out of, so you won’t feel like you have to win a wrestling match to get your bra on. Soft adjustable Velcro straps and stretch fabric allow you to easily unfasten a strap and slip one side of this bra down to nurse. The Fiona is so soft and comfortable it can even be worn all day as an alternative to a nursing bra.

Front Closure: Moving Comfort Grace II Bra

Zip through your day – and your run – in the Moving Comfort Grace II. This update to the Grace Bra flaunts a slimmed-down, streamlined design and a new front j-hook closure that makes zipping this bra on and off even easier. When putting this bra on, fasten the j-hook in the front to hold the bra closed, and then zip the bra up. Front closure allows you to easily unzip and unclip to nurse. The Grace II has a slightly lower neckline, so it is ideal for smaller busted women.

Keep The Girls Happy: Running Sports Bras

June 6th, 2012

Tough Decision? We're Here to Help

Your sports bra is pretty much your most important piece of run gear. And like Joanna at right here, you may be overwhelmed by your options. But don’t fear – we’re here to, er, ‘support’ your effort to find the perfect run bra.

We recently tested seven different models to figure out which bras work best for women of different cup sizes. Choose the size that’s right for you and read on!

If you need help figuring out what size bra will fit you best, check out our Sports Bra Fit video on the Learning Center.

A or B Cup Bras

Women who are smaller up top can get away with a ‘less is more’ philosophy when it comes to sports bras. A classic compression sports bra often provides enough support, and can be a super comfy option, as many classic compression bras are seamless or nearly seamless. If you’re a smaller busted woman looking for more support, then try a bra with encapsulation and compression.

Bras Tested:

Best Support Overall: Moving Comfort Vixen

Alice says: “This bra offered superior support, with a great feminine silhouette. The back mesh is very breathable and stood up to hotter temps.”

Best for Longer Runs: Moving Comfort Phoebe

Alice says: “The snug compression of this bra gave me plenty of support for high impact activities, and was comfortable enough to wear for a long day on the trail.”

Stand-Out Feature: The North Face Stow-N-Go

Alice says: “The pockets on this bra are awesome! Because of the padding, even and iPhone fits comfortably in the large one. This was the least supportive of the bras I tested, but it still offered adequate support for running.”

B or C Cup Bras

For women who wear a B or C cup, encapsulation helps to provide enough support to keep the girls happy as you head out to hit the roads or trails. For even more support, try a bra that also has adjustability. If you can adjust the straps or the back closure of a bra, it will let you create a more custom fit for your body and your needs.
