Nike LunarEclipse+ 3 Sneak Peek

Nike LunarEclipse+ 3 Men's Running Shoe

The shoe in the Nike Lunar line offering the most pronation support, the LunarEclipse series has a reputation for combining a pillowy ride with a high-feature upper. It’s a pretty light shoe for the amount of pronation control it offers, and with the evolution on the way with the LunarEclipse 3, we expect the hallmarks of the series to continue.

What to Watch For

  • New Upper: The most noticeable change is the switchover to Dynamic Flywire. These threads loop from the base of the shoe up to the laces to provide an easily customized fit. The new upper also uses a woven mesh and features a redesigned external heel counter.
  • Carryover Platform: The mid/outsole from prior versions carries on, offering Lunarlon cushioning, Dynamic Support and a Waffle outsole design.

Wowww nice! I like this new upper, and it’s a pretty good thing that it still has the same mid and outsole because I liked it, but I got 2 question: 1. The midsole is stiffer/softer or the SAME? 2. Is it lighter then the previous model the LunarEclipse+2, and if it does, then lighter by xx ounces?

  • Matt

We agree, Shahar – the new upper is pretty slick. According to the information we have, the mid/outsole is identical to prior versions. We’re not projecting a substantial weight difference beyond a tenth of an ounce or so.

  • Hamish

hey have you got the lunareclipse 3? how much for shipping to newzealand, christchurch?

  • Alice

Thank you for your question, Hamish. The Nike LunarEclipse+ 3 is scheduled to release in January 2013. Per our current sales agreement with Nike, we are unable to ship Nike products outside of the United States.

is the shoe similar to the lunarglide 4? or is there a substantial increase in the over-pronation support? could you tell me what difference there is in the two shoes? i love my lunarglide 4s, they are the perfect shoe for me, offering support at a ridiculously low weight. the one area i think it could improve on is the traction of the sole, and the eclipse 3 looks to have a more grippy tread…. any feedback will be much appreciated!

  • Matt

The LunarEclipse+ 3 has quite a bit more pronation support than the LunarGlide series. It’s going to feel stiffer and heavier than the LunarGlide. Part of the weight increase is the thicker, grippier outsole rubber used on the LunarEclipse.
