Mizuno Wave Prophecy 3 Sneak Peek

July 25th, 2013

Of the upcoming Wave Prophecy 3, Mizuno says, “you have to run it to believe it.” This premium neutral trainer certainly has plenty of believers already, and we “prophesize” that the updates coming for version 3 will make it a continued delight for runners who want the cushiest running experience possible.

The Prophecy is a model that certainly draws plenty of attention thanks to its full-length wave plate – you won’t find another running shoe that looks like this.

What To Watch For

  • New Wave Plate Design: The Prophecy 3 continues to highlight Mizuno’s top-of-the-line Infinity Wave from heel to toe. The plate has been redesigned with more substantial strut pillars for greater cushioning.
  • New Midsole Compound: Like most of Mizuno’s upcoming lineup, the Wave Prophecy 3 switches from AP+ to U4iC midsole material for softer cushioning without added weight.

The Mizuno rep I know said these weigh 11.9 for a men’s size 9. I am currently wear testing the Prophecy 4 and the midsole uses smooth ride grips in the forefoot for both of these.

  • Matt

Weights are indeed listed at 11.9 oz for the Men’s size 9.0 and 9.6 oz for the Women’s size 7.5, only a slight dip from the current model. How are you liking the Prophecy 4?

  • Chris Copeland

I like it – hopefully, this is foreshadowing for the new Wave Creation.

  • Stephen

I’m not really liking them as much as I did my original Prophecy 1. My Left heel slips a little and they now weigh 13.0. Im 5’8″ and 136 pounds so these shoes aren’t designed for me. I wish I could test something lighter like the Rider, Sayonara, Hitogami or Ronin. They overall feel good. Excellent transition, stiff heel (again because I am so light I don’t put much force into the Wave plate), a little too bulky, nice but thick upper and the lace holder on the tongue gets in the way but during a run they feel comfortable no matter how many miles you run.

  • Matt

Thanks for the early preview, Stephen. Hopefully your feedback will help Mizuno craft an improved shoe.

  • Nate

I got my pair in the mail from Mizuno today and am very excited to give them a try tomorrow!
