Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 Sneak Peek

August 23rd, 2013

A go-to shoe for many runners who want a stable, cushioned ride, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS is a perennial favorite. Not wanting to mess with a good thing, Brooks goes easy on the updates to the upcoming Adrenaline GTS 14.

What to Watch For

  • New Platform: The GTS 13 carried over the platform from the GTS 12, but the 14′s midsole/outsole is all-new. Brooks added a bit of foam to the lateral side of the shoe for full ground contact and a smoother heel-to-toe transition.
  • New Upper: The redesigned upper features improved mesh and even higher quality materials, along with better midfoot support through the more structured midfoot overlays.
  • Identical Weight: Brooks lists the exact same weights for the GTS 14 as the GTS 13, for both Men’s and Women’s models.

    Has the offset been changed?

  • Matt

We do not have stack height measurements yet for the Adrenaline 14, but we don’t believe there will be a significant change to the offset of this shoe.

  • Mark

Any idea about the cushioning? I’m hopeful it has a more softer ride than the 13.

  • Matt

Given that the platform will use the same cushioning technologies, and the weight of the shoe is unchanged, we expect it will feel nearly identical to the Adrenaline 13. But we haven’t had a chance to do a test run in the shoe just yet.

I can’t wait for its release (gts 14 that is) but what about the trance 12. I have 2 pairs and I find them the best stability plus shoe in the market. I heard that its being dropped. Pleas tell me that isn’t so.

  • Matt

Thanks for the question, Martin. The Trance is being replaced by the Transcend in February. We have some info on the Transcend in a recent blog post: http://blog.runningwarehouse.com/rs/brooks-transcend-sneak-peek/

I’ve tested a couple different pairs of the 14′s for Brooks with the new platform. Its a completely different Adrenaline than the 13′s and those before. Very disappointed they actually launched this shoe, my reviews of the new platform were not that good. This platform is found on most of the other Brooks shoes already. The Adrenaline 13 platform is what differentiates itself from the other Brooks shoes, now its no different than the rest. There are many Adrenaline loyalists who will be left with ankle/feet problems if they go to this shoe; it will change your gait, stride and has a completely different arch support. Stock pile on the 13′s if you like them because the 14 will not compare. I don’t understand why they would take such a drastic change when the 13 supposedly won so many awards.

I tried them on today. The 13 was very disappointing in the fit for me, specifically the heel cup was too shallow, and the shoes really did not last long. The 14 feels the same as the 13, but with a slightly deeper heel cup so it’s a better fit for me. Only time will tell how they hold up, though.

I really like the Adrenaline GTS 12 and was not as pleased with the 13s but found they still fit better than other brands. I have to wear wide widths so I am very unhappy that I can only choose one color each year. When all the websites seem to run out of the wide widths before the new shoes are released then I would guess that I am one of many. Please be fair and offer choices to all customers. Looking forward to trying out the 14s, I hoping they will be like the 12s.

I love Ravenna 4 , will the Adrenaline have the same softer ride as the Ravenna? I saw the Adrenaline in color Red, when it should come out in that color? Ravenna’s are schedule to come out in January?

  • Taro

    @Ramon Perez

Our testers found the Ravenna to be slightly softer than the Adrenaline, though the difference is small. The biggest difference between the two shoes is the level of support, with the Adrenaline being the more supportive option.

The Red/Black/Silver Adrenaline GTS 14 will be released in February 2014, while the Ravenna 5 will be available in January.
