Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 Sneak Peek

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13 Women's Running Shoe

The Adrenaline is the go-to shoe for thousands and thousands of runners. So you shouldn’t be shocked to find out that Brooks took it easy in the updates department when it came time to revamp the Adrenaline GTS 12. After all, why mess with such a good thing?

The midsole of the 12 carries over, but the upcoming 13 sports subtle changes to the outsole and a fresh upper that looks nearly identical to the previous model.

What to Watch For

  • Outsole Updates: Brooks adds Omega Flex Grooves to the outsole for improved flexibility and better gait efficiency. They also redesigned the arch bridge.
  • New Upper: If you like the clean, simple lines of your Adrenaline 12s, you’ll feel right at home kickin’ it in the 13. Fit is unchanged, though there are now 3 elastic eyelets on the lateral side and redesigned placement of the elastic eyelets on the medial side, helping to create a more tailored fit.

SWEET! I love the blue laces on the women’s shoe.

  • Alan Michael

I hope you wrong about the A13 being like the A12. I’ve run in the A8-11, the 12 ran like a completly different shoe. Stiff, cluncky, terrible on uphill. Hope the 13 feels more like a moderate stability shoe, not a motion control beast.

  • Lars

What the h… is going on the Brooks design department? With each new generation one hopes, but still exactly the same color and design. The 13 looks exactly as the 11. Come on people, it seems as if every brand gets the general design trends but Brooks. Stuck in the 90s. At least follow your own concept and give the mens version colored lases like the womens version.

  • Emma Backhouse

I agree about needing to change the 12′s. Only managed 2 5 mile runs before needing to change them. Am stock piling 11′s in case the 13s are no better :( .

  • Jodi

Love Brooks Adrenalines, just wish they would come out with some better colors. Other brands have such fun, bright colors. I’ve been wearing them for years and got so sick of the blue. Every year it was just a different shade of blue. The GTS 12s at least came out in a pink color, but I would love to see Brooks get a little more creative and fun with their colors!!!

  • Matt

Thanks for the comment, Jodi. Brooks is definitely keeping things conservative with the color choices on the Adrenaline 13. They have some great color combos in their PureProject line but those colors haven’t migrated over to the more traditional models all that much…yet. We’re expecting the “bright color” trend to ease back a bit in the second half of 2013, but who knows, maybe colors will get even crazier!

  • Bob

I like the Adrenaline GTS 11′s better than the 12′s so I would rather they go back to that instead of sticking exaclty the same to the 12′s.

  • Holly

I like the blue laces. I would definitely like to see more, brighter colors – and not just 1 color option + black for us wide-footed folks!!!

  • Andrew

Hopefully they will still be available in a 4E width and hopefully not in blue again.

  • Alice

These shoes will be available in a 4E width in the Blue/White/Black colorway.

  • sheryl

    @Alan Michael
I agree with Alan…12 too stiff…love the 11′s. Hope the 13s have more cush

  • Sam

I’ve run in the GTS 7, 9, and 11. All great shoes for daily roadwork, perfect for my foot type. But I also cringe and the tame color choices available, and try to find the “Limited Edition” colors when they are offered.

  • Rudy

I need 4E in the Black Please!!!!
I even called brooks and asked that size and width combo for the last 3 years.

  • Rudy

Maybe an all black gore-tex in 4E. That would be a dream come true. I’d buy like 4 pairs of those.

  • Rich W

I’ve got about +100 miles on the GTS 12′s for daily use and I still want to throw them out each time I wear them! I’ve been saving my 11′s for actually races but their starting to feel worn down. Unfortunately, I wasn’t smart enough to stock up on the 11′s when they were readily available. Any leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I too wish they offered better colorways and when they do offer ‘limited edition’ verisions, they stick to the limited motto bc they don’t offer them to fat feet types like me (2E)!

  • Alice

We are not aware of any other online retailers that still have stock of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11.

  • kev

The 12s were awful compared to the smooth-rolling and well-cushioned 11s. I put a pair of 12s in rotation with 2 pairs of 11s and immediately suffered stress fractures with no other changes in my running program. The 12s ride is very firm, bordering on harsh, in comparison to the 11s. If the 13s are the same, then it may be time to try the Kayano.

  • frank

I actually like the 12s much better than the 11s. Perhaps I’m just a fan of the firmer ride, or maybe my 11s are too beat up to compare to the 12s. Kev – kayanos might be a suitable replacement for the Brooks Trance, but the Asics 2100s are closer to the Adrenalines if you’re looking to switch.

  • Jason

Another long time runner, that cannot stand the 12s.. and is sd to hear the 13s will be the same. I loved previous models, 8, 9, 10, and 11.. but things seemed to change drastically in the 12s.. I’ve had to start trying other shoe brands looking for something like the old Adrenaline.. :(

  • Matt

There’s not a whole lot of other shoes in the same category as the Adrenaline. If you’re looking for a smooth, cushioned ride and you’re willing/able to go to a slightly lower drop shoe, the Saucony Omni 10 is worth a look. We’ll test out the Adrenaline 13 when it arrives in stock and provide an update on the feel of the shoe.

  • Becca

    @kev
I went to the Kayano because I hated the 12s, but I don’t love them either. They are VERY cushy compared to the Adrenaline. I just ran a half marathon in them, and I was dying by the end. I can’t stand wearing them now. I went back to my Adrenaline 11′s even though they’re a little worn down.

I agree about the 12′s being stiff and I felt like the insoles were plasticy. Not a fan.

Nor am I a fan of the colors! The 12′s had better color options, but nothing as awesome as what Ascics offers. I hope the wild color trend doesn’t go away! I’m a fan!

  • Richele

Waiting to get the Women’s Green. Love my current purple GTs 12, but need new ones and love that green!

  • Shan Gravell

To continue the trend, I have run in Brooks Adrenalines since version 5 or 6 but couldn’t get on with the 12′s. Tried various shoes with no joy until I found 3 pairs of Adrenaline 11′s online. I now have to try out the 13′s but like so many other people, love th shoes but bored with the colors! I am an 8.5D and can never be any fun colors. Please can Brooks step it up for us loyal customers
