Asics Gel Fuji Racer Update

Asics Gel Fuji Racer Men's Trail Running Shoe

The Gel Fuji Racer has been a big success for Asics since its February launch, both in terms of sales and also in helping the brand establish some cred in the stripped-down trail shoe category. We did a full video review of the Fuji Racer, and also covered it in a sneak peek and product review.

Our friends at the website just completed a review of the Fuji Racer too (check it out here). Their longer-term test shows the shoe holding up well after over 200 miles of rock hopping and slush busting. We’re encouraged to hear such great feedback about this shoe and if you own a pair, we’d love to hear your experience here or on our Fuji Racer comment page.

hey guys, i was wondering how well the shoe ran for road runs like does it retain good traction on the road with it being made for trails?

i recently misplaced my asics trainers and is not able to use my ds racers since the other pair is missing

Thanks for the question, Jhon. The Fuji Racer is a pretty durable hybrid shoe that our testers have found to give good traction on a wide range of surfaces, including road/asphalt.

I’ve been running road marathons with ds racer 8, and doing excellent, do you think the fuji racer will be good choise to run my first 50
Mile trail race?? (Caballo Blanco ultramarathon)
I’ve been training in the montrail rogue racer, i like them very much
But i feel no support at all eventough I wear orthotics.
    Should i take the chance?

The Gel Fuji Racer would be a very good choice if you’ve been running in the DS Racer. The Fuji Racer actually shares its midsole with the DS Racer 9, though of course the Fuji has a trail-specific outsole. It will provide a bit more cushioning than the Rogue Racer, which should help keep you comfortable on a 50 miler.
