Asics Gel Cumulus 15 Sneak Peek

Asics Gel Cumulus 15 Women's Running Shoe

When it comes to neutral cushioning, few shoes come close to the popularity of the Asics Gel Cumulus, which will enter its 15th iteration this year. Expect a few changes in this update of the Asics Gel Cumulus 14. A reworked midsole offers a tad more protection than the previous model and a tweaked upper should deliver a slightly improved fit, but all in all we think this shoe will continue to offer the responsive, cushioned ride and lasting comfort that has made the Cumulus franchise an ongoing success.

What to Watch For

  • Increased Cushioning: Asics has upped the Gel in both the heel and forefoot for increased underfoot protection.
  • Footbed Updates: The Cumulus 15 switches to full-length SpEVA 45 lasting and a ComforDry sockliner replaces the 14’s molded EVA sockliner for an even more plush feel underfoot.
  • Reduced Stitching: With this update, we see more welded and seamless overlays, especially around the midfoot, for reduced friction over the foot.

Any idea of the appoximate weight for the mens Cumulus 15? I did not like the smaller Gel pad and firmer forefoot in the 14 model so I am looking forward to this update…

  • Matt

Official word from Asics is 11.4 oz for a Men’s 9. That’s only 0.2 oz more than we have for the current shoe’s weight.

The Cumulus 15 in green is one of the ugliest shoes I’ve ever seen. I really hope they release some better color combos, because what I see now makes me want to stick with my 14’s for a very long time.
