Asics Gel Blur33 2.0 Men's and Women's Shoes
The shoe that launched the Asics 33 Collection is set to get a refresh this summer. The Gel Blur33 2.0 debuts in April 2012 with a new upper on the original Blur33′s mid/outsole.
What to Watch For
- MONO-SOCK Upper: The upper is now constructed with a stretch mesh that holds the shoe on the foot with a slipper-like feel
- External Cage: Material surrounding the MONO-SOCK wraps the midfoot for a secure and comfortable fit.
- Price Bump: MSRP on the Gel Blur33 2.0 will be $100.00.

Wow, a $100 price tag? Improving the fit/feel is something they should have done along with wear testing. The shoe has so much visibility now in the market. Rushing a fix for a 6 month later release says to me they could have made this shoe better from the start, but now they’re trying to go for the jugular. With a $100 price tag there’s little incentive to buy this shoe if you’re a runner familiar with shoe lines. Expect this shoe to be a surprise money maker for many more months at non-specialty stores.

Thanks for the comments. We’re excited to see how the new upper fits, but you’re right that at $100 the Blur33 2.0 will be up against a lot of very runnable and well-designed shoes. We think other shoes in the 33 line, including the Gel Lyte33 and Gel Cirrus33, are a little more focused to particular running niches, while the Blur33 is positioned as a shoe with broader appeal.
