Nike sponsored decathlete Ashton Eaton has a fairly impressive resume. Gold medalist, world record holder, etc. It appears, though, that lately he’s been focusing on a title that will easily cast a shadow over his other accomplishments: World’s Fastest Shoe Lacer.
Ashton, seen with the soon-to-be-released Nike Flyknit Lunar2, has a lot of event shoes, and it makes sense that he wants to be able to switch these shoes quickly between events for efficiency’s sake. Therefore, his contention for the coveted shoe-lacing crown shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone.
What is surprising, though, is that being the world’s greatest athlete doesn’t mean you don’t have to tie your own shoes.
