Zoot is making several updates to its footwear line for Spring ’13. The brand’s offerings are known best for their sockless comfort with quite a bit of performance, and this trend looks to continue in the updates of the Ultra Kalani, Ultra Race, and Ovwa. The following are all scheduled for a February 2013 release.
Zoot’s neutral, high mileage trainer returns in its third iteration. There aren’t too many departures from its predecessor in the Kalani 3.0. Expect the same seamless upper construction for friction-free, sockless wear, along with full-length Z-Bound cushioning. Zoot’s published stack heights are 15mm in the forefoot and 25mm in the heel, lowering the entire shoe by 4mm for a closer to the ground feel.

The most notable change on the Ultra Race 4.0 is the new BOA lacing system, which triathletes may recognize from cycling footwear. For the uninitiated, BOA consists of a ratchet used to tighten lightweight wires that run over the midfoot in lieu of laces. The design of the system is all about quick entry. Other changes to the shoe include a grippier outsole pattern in the forefoot and a slightly lowered platform – Zoot reports stack heights of 11mm in the forefoot and 19mm in the heel for an 8mm offset.

Minimal changes are in store for this update to the Ovwa – namely, reduced overlays in the upper for a more seamless construction and irritation-free sockless wear, as well as the addition of a massive Zoot logo so everyone knows what you’re rockin’. This stability racing shoe will come complete with a set of both standard laces as well as quick pull laces for quick entry.
