Fans of the previous Saucony Guide models might be surprised to find that the new edition is not the Saucony Guide 11, but the Saucony Guide ISO. After a decade of positive reviews, Saucony is updating the Guide’s naming convention based on the new ISOFIT upper. Of course, that’s not the only update to the Guide ISO.
The SSL EVA midsole used in the previous version has been updated to a new PWRFOAM midsole, which should complement the EVERUN topsole to generate a more responsive underfoot feel. Additional changes in the medial posting geometry should maintain traditional support levels while improving the ride of the shoe.
To further improve the ride, the outsole of the shoe has been restructured with filled-in flex grooves on the medial midfoot that are designed to bend more readily with contours underfoot.
As the change in name implies, the most notable update to the Guide is the transition to an ISOFIT upper design, which should deliver a more refined and comfortable fit. Included in the reformatted upper are an engineered mesh with high level breathability and reconfigured overlays that should improve the longevity of the upper.
As a result of the Guide’s transformation, the new Guide ISO looks to be slightly heavier than the Guide 10. For the men’s shoe the increase in weight from the production model of the Guide 10 to the reported weight of the Guide ISO is only 0.1 ounces, but for the women’s shoe the increase is 0.4 ounces.
