Available January 2016  – MSRP $120.00

Born from the New Balance Japan Product team, the Hanzo S is a racing flat that combines some of New Balance’s latest technologies with a more traditional design. Inspired by the needs of the competitive road runner, this shoe was built to be a lightweight and responsive shoe that can perform over a variety of distances.

Similar to the new Vazee 2090, the Hanzo S utilizes a blend of Rapid Rebound Foam and Revlite cushioning for increased energy return. We expect this flat to provide a smooth and snappy ride that should excel in shorter distance races with versatility to go longer for more advanced runners. The Hanzo S also utilizes a sticky Dynaride outsole with durable rubber zones placed in “high wear” areas of the shoe. The outsole should provide excellent traction when paces pick up on the roads.

On the upper we see a slightly more traditional racing flat design that utilizes a synthetic mesh upper with Fantom Fit technology. While the shoe is not completely seamless, the upper should still provide a very comfortable wrap with a secure foot lockdown.

Runners who may be upset with the discontinuation of the 1600 series should consider taking a look at the Hanzo S. While it is not a direct replacement, the lightweight responsive ride will provide the most similar racing experience within the current New Balance line.
