Mizuno looks to challenge the likes of the ASICS Kayano and Saucony Hurricane. The Mizuno Wave Horizon is a brand new shoe for 2017 and pairs a support Wave to reduce overpronation with new underfoot cushioning. It should offer a unique feel within the Mizuno support line. The very supportive Mizuno Wave Paradox 3 will continue to live on, while the Wave Horizon hopes to offer a more luxurious sensation that will reduce overpronation to a degree between the Paradox 3 and Wave Inspire 13.
Mizuno has become known for a more firm underfoot feel. The Horizon hopes to soften up this stereotype. An articulated U4icX heel wedge is paired with a top midsole, that incorporates the new u4ic compound, to soften up the shoe and help increase durability. As a premium support shoe, durability and cushioning will be paramount to its ultimate success.
Good pronation support comes from a new Stability Wave that features a combination of “Soft” geometry and “Fan-Shaped” geometry for a compliant yet structured ride. We expect this design to offer enhanced responsiveness as well as a smooth ride. A Triple Zone Engineered mesh upper will provide good breathability while offering a secure midfoot fit.
