As the lightest and fastest shoe within the current HOKA ONE ONE lineup, the Tracer offers responsive yet protective cushioning in a sleek, lightweight package. The versatile, performance feel makes it a great option for longer workouts, while the springy underfoot design creates a fast feel on race day. Upon release, the Tracer was unlike anything on the market, and many people found the shoe to be a fantastic option over a variety of distances. While the shoe was fairly well received, many runners were not fully satisfied with the upper materials and felt the fit, specifically in the toe box, was off. With version 2, the Tracer offers the same cushioned underfoot experience while offering a completely revamped upper design.
To help update the shoe’s look and offer an improved fit, the Tracer 2 now utilizes an engineered mesh upper. The new design is softer and should help create a more accommodating fit throughout the midfoot and toebox. Along with the addition of a 3D puff print frame for a lightweight yet supportive foot wrap, the shoe should keep your feet locked in place as you begin to pick up the pace.
With many runners enjoying the underfoot sensation of the original Tracer, version 2 maintains an identical tooling. The PRO2LITE midsole continues to offer a unique blend of propulsion and protection, while the early stage meta rocker design offers the smooth transition HOKA is known for. The outsole continues to be fairly exposed, but the strategic rubber placement helps maintain enough durability and traction for faster road running.
