First introduced last year, the Brooks Revel is a versatile road running shoe that features a stylish knit upper and a cost-conscious price point. Now releasing the second edition of the model, designers at Brooks made slight tweaks to the upper that should improve the comfort and fit for a more enjoyable run.
The midsole continues to feature the BioMoGo DNA compound for an adaptive and responsive ride that can fit the needs of many types of runner. It also incorporates a segmented crash pad on the heel that flexes with the foot to create personalized cushioning and a smooth heel-toe transition.
To increase the durability of the shoe, the outsole includes high-abrasion HPR Plus rubber that should limit wear and protect the midsole.
The upper is essentially the sole update in this model, and it is redesigned to provide a more comfortable and adaptable fit that expands with the foot where necessary, while still holding securely across the midfoot. For materials, designers used an updated, heat-activated flat knit that should provide a more plush feel than the previous model and hold its shape for longer. They also removed the external overlays across the midfoot in favor of preserving the look of the knit exterior, while keeping the internal bootie construction consistent to provide ample support.
