After updating the upper for the sixth generation of the PureGrit, the designers at Brooks reimagined the whole shoe with the new PureGrit 7. While it is still intended to provide a closer connection with the trail and enough protection to allow you to go the distance, the modifications to the midsole, outsole, and upper should make the PureGrit 7 a more comfortable and smoother riding shoe.
For a nimble and fast underfoot feel that still delivers a cushioned ride, the midsole of the shoe is constructed using Brooks’ BioMoGo DNA compound. The heel of the shoe is rounded in an effort to help improve alignment and decrease stress on the joints, and Omega Flex Grooves under the forefoot allow for extensive flexibility.
Made with a sticky rubber compound for superior traction, the outsole design receives significant alterations that trade the previous version’s uniform pattern of hexagons for a mixture of hexagons and chevrons that should improve grip on multiple surfaces. The PureGrit 7 also incorporates a Ballistic Rock Shield to protect against impact from underfoot hazards.
The upper is composed of a newly designed, heat-activated yarn for a flexible wrap that features 3D rubber print over high-wear areas to improve durability. The new Ariaprene tongue is designed to drain water faster than the previous model, and to prevent dirt and debris from entering the shoe.
