With a Pod-filled midsole design and a futuristic looking upper, the original Brooks Neuro was one of the more unique looking shoes of 2016. The shoe was built to offer a flexible and natural ride along with high energy return. While the shoe was extremely flexible and delivered some responsiveness, many runners felt it fell short of expectations. Now with version 2, Brooks completely revamped the shoe from top to bottom to deliver a more fine-tuned product that should be more in line with their original vision.
The biggest change with the Neuro 2 is seen in the completely revamped midsole and outsole. The shoe utilizes smaller Propulsion pods that should further enhance responsiveness while also giving the shoe a smoother, more streamlined feel. The new design provides the shoe with a more standard look and the addition of extra BioMoGo Dna in the midsole should offer increased underfoot cushioning over its predecessor. While we expect the shoe to be more cushioned and responsive, it will continue to offer plenty of flexibility by utilizing a more pronounced gearing mechanism that will allow the heel and forefoot to move independently.
Version 2 of the Neuro also gets a nice upper upgrade that not only looks faster but should provide an enhanced on-foot experience. The new mesh material should provide a softer wrap and the continued use of a Dynamic hammock system will create a snug, second skin like feel.
