A popular racing flat among competitive Japanese road runners, the ASICS LyteRacer series is known for its simple design and ability to handle a wide variety of road races. Whether you’re looking for a shoe that can move fast in the 5k or one with enough underfoot protection to help you achieve a new marathon PR, the LyteRacer delivers a versatile experience with a more traditional racing flat feel. Looking at the new LyteRacer TS 7, we see small updates that should continue to build upon its predecessor while offering a similar underfoot experience.
In order to maintain a lightweight design and a responsive ride, the LyteRacer TS 7 continues to use a full-length SpEVA midsole. While the stack heights are altered slightly and the heel stabilizer is removed, the overall ride should remain very similar to the LyteRacer TS 6. On the outsole, we see an increased number of rubber lugs along with a slightly altered lug shape to provide an even stickier grip on the roads. The shoe also offers a slightly modified Trusstic system for increased torsional rigidity.
A new upper design with suede overlays gives the shoe a softer wrap and a classic racer look. And with a new heel counter, the shoe should offer a snug heel wrap with added support.
